Stabbing Attack Leaves Man Dead in Eastern Australia

(MENAFN) A 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a targeted assault early Wednesday morning in eastern Australia. Emergency services responded to a reported attack on a street near the rural city of Grafton, located 490 kilometers northeast of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales (NSW) around 1 a.m. local time.

Upon arrival, police found the victim had been stabbed by unidentified attackers while walking along the street. Despite efforts by ambulance paramedics to treat him, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

NSW Police confirmed in a statement that the stabbing appeared to be a deliberate and targeted assault. Local detectives, with support from the state homicide squad, have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have indicated that the area will remain a crime scene for an extended period as they gather evidence.
